Ok, I'm going to try and explain this the best I can without a photo! I have pics, but my card reader is broken.
So my dress is A-line, empire waisted with a little thin sash and bow sewn on. There is a beaded pattern swirling down the middle of the front, all the way down to the bottom. It is glued on, not sewn in. I need a hem, as the dress is about 3 inches too long.
I'm worried that in the process of hemming, the beaded design will be cut off at an unflattering place. The beaded design makes like a repeating, continuing flower pattern, and I'm worried about it getting cut off in the middle of a design! My grandma thinks no one will notice if it does. My other grandma says in order for it to be hemmed without affecting the beaded design, it will have to be hemmed from the waist.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? Any advice? Does having it hemmed from the waist cost more? (I'm thinking yes).
