Are wedges okay for an evening wedding?

Hi everyone!
I'm on the hunt for my wedding shoes.  My wedding isn't until November so I have plenty of time.  But I was thinking of wearing wedges with my dress.  I'm 5'10.5/5'11 and don't need a ton of extra height.  I was also a dancer my whole life, have broken both feet fairly severely, and many traditional stiletto type heels make my feet just ache, regardless fo heel height.  Wedges seem to always work much better.  We had to order my dress with extra length anyway because of my height so I have some room to play with different heel heights.  My ceremony is at 3 and my reception is at 4:30.  Are wedges completely inappropriate?  Thank you!

  • I think wedges are perfectly acceptable.  I definitely believe in wearing footwear that you are comfortable in.  Keep in mind, if you are wearing a floor length dress, no one is going to see your shoes anyhow.
  • Wedges are perfectly fine, just make sure they aren't beachy...Such as that burlap or cork look.

  • I say go for it! Agree with PP about avoiding cork bottom.

  • Agree with PP.. i have a pair of all silver wedges. You can find more formal ones :)
  • Your comfort is most important. Wear wedges, flats, whatever.
  • thank you ladies! yes my dress is floor length and I realize in the long run, no one really sees the brides shoes much.  I appreciate all the responses!
  • I am thinking of getting wedge sneakers they are cute and I know won't slip off. My dress has a lot going on, on the bottom and I don't want to be caught up in it from heels. I love heels and will be rocking them for every other wedding event but i don't want to trip on my wedding day. Wedges too will give me a little height as I'm about 6 inches shorter than my man.
