Bra or Corset?

Hi!
I'm wondering what type of undergarmet people would suggest and where to find it for a good price...
I have a dress with thin halter straps so I'll need something strapless. Should I stick with a basic strapless bra or one of those bra-corset things?
Thanks!!

  • You can always have cups sewn in.

  • That's a good idea! Thanks.
I might be a little afraid that my halter would come untied and I'd flash the guests...?  :-/

  • I have a corset bra sewn into my dress. It wasn't my doing, that is how the dress was designed. I would really recommend having cups sewn in because then you don't have to worry about a bra showing!!
  • Depending on the fabric of the dress, bones in a corset might show, or if your dress has a corset top then an extra corset would make it difficult for you to breathe.

Have you thought about a full control slip (you can get them with plunging necklines) which is smooth without bones?
  • I am pretty flat chested and didn't think that I needed a longline bra but when I tried on the dress with my normal go-to strapless bra it was a no go. That dress is heavier than I thought! What DB did for me was add snaps to the inside of the dress and the bra. that way nothing moves or shows during the day. I would pay the money for good undergarmets. It's worth it.  You don't wanna be looking at picture after picture of yourself pulling up your bra. For me sewing in cups did not work because then I looked too flat. (I am a 32B) Just talk to your seamstress.

  • I'll either have cups sewn in or a corset bra sewn in.

  • I had a corset bra and loved it.
  • I'm using a corset from Fredericks and really like it. It gives me just enough shaping and gives the dress a great fit-- better than one would get with just a longline bra.

  • How thin is the halter strap? I have some thin halter tops and wearing my bra with the strap crossed around my neck halter style never shows.
