Dress

How far in advance is the right time to get your dress?

Re: Dress

  • I would start looking at 1 yr away.  I started looking at just over a year and just found my dress 5 months to the day before my wedding this June.  Some people find a dress easily, while others take awhile.

I started looking 11 months ahead of time, and found my dress the 3rd time I went shopping.  But I am glad I went when I did because it's going to take 6 months for my dress to come in.
  • It's never too early to start looking, but I wouldn't actually purchase it until 10-11 months before the wedding if you've found something.  If nothing else, you don't want to buy a dress until you've booked your venues, because you may end up with a very different wedding than your original vision, and you don't want to be stuck with a dress that doesn't fit that.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
