Worth it? (Justin Alexander)

My budget is $1000. FI did tell me that if it was the prefect dress and my mom and sister agreed it was THE DRESS that there might be a few hundred worth of wiggle room.

I've fallen in love with a dress I don't know the price of Frown. I've called 13 stores and only one has one in stock and agreed to give me a price range - $499-2000.

So my dream dress is either well within my budget or...double it. I don't know if I even want to go because we really can't afford to double the dress budget.

Does ANYONE, anywhere know the true price of this dress? Justin Alexander, 8641

Re: Worth it? (Justin Alexander)

  • Every website I keep going to says call for details. Sorry
  • Huh? The price 'range' is '$499 - $2000' - that's quite a range! Why can't they give you a fixed figure for it? That's very odd!

Otherwise, I'd find a shop that sells that brand, try some dresses on for size then start online shopping for it in the best size and get it shipped to yourself ASAP.  (or start considering plan 'B''s).

    Good luck to you. :)
  • It is a stunning dress and worth trying on I think!
  • I'm betting the $499 is the jacket alone and then it goes up from there for the dress and the jacket.  Try Casablanca, too.  They have many similar styles and are more in your $1000 price range.

  • The shop I bought my dress from had Justin Alexander dresses and from what I remember, they ranged from 1200-2000.  At the place I went, they did offer you the option to buy some of the samples so that could be an option if you truly love the dress. I don't know how many places do that though.
  • My Justin Alexander dress was $1300ish original price (bought it on sale). It's not the same style at all, but most of the other Justin Alexander dresses in the store I went to were $1200 or more. It might be worth going to try on if just to see if you like it as much on you as on the model and if it's out of your price range, you might be able to find a good substitute.

  • Maybe look for it used and ask the bride how much she paid for it new?

  • I'm thinking it'd be anywhere from $1k-$2k... it's gorgeous!

Ditto the suggestions some PPs have mentioned. Also try Essence of Australia dresses!

I work at a bridal store and Justin Alexanders run $1500-$2000 to order them from what I've seen. That dress (the details are leading me to think this) looks like it might be on the pricey side. I'm not sure if you'd like this, but Maggie Sottero has a dress called the Bernadette http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=J1399

It looks fairly similar. Plus the back is beautiful.

  • I also realllly wanted to try on this dress and was told that it is part of the Fall 2012 line and will not be available in stores for several more months. Not sure when your wedding is, but I think it's going to be too far for me (I never did get an exact date though).

That being said, I agree with some of the PP. I would guess around $1300-1500. That's where most of the Justin's that I have tried on have been around, except for one that was incredibly intricate (of course, the one I am now in love with).

A lot of places are not allowed by the designer to give a price over the phone, but the boutique I'm working with told me Justin Alexander's generally run between $1,300 and $2,000.  A dress like this, with the kind of lace work that it has, will be very unlikely to cost <$1,000.  Perhaps stop into a shop that has one though (the one I've been talking to in Buffalo won't have one for another two weeks or so, and other stores in the Cleveland/Erie area didn't seem to be planning on having it...) and see what they can tell you in the store.

    Good luck!
  • It's $1,500 including the jacket.
  • I called a few places for this dress and was told that it won't be available until November of this year.  They estimate I was given was $1500-$2200.

    Good Luck!
  • I recently purchased it and I paid close to 1700. Hopefully that helps you make the decision. It is an absolutely gorgeous dress.
  • Dress costs roughly $1700 and the jacket comes with it at no extra cost.  It's a GORGEOUS dress!  However, most places, you'll be able to find a lace dress for less and then purchase a jacket to go over it for around $300-$500.  That may be your best route in lieu of busting budget.

  • Hi! I'd love to buy this gown for my wedding. I wouldn't mind pre-loved :) Does anyone want to sell theirs?
  • I tried on the dress at a shop last night but they're selling for $2570!!!
  • I saw one like it on this really cheap site
but if you order it make sure you have enough time to have it altered in case it doesn't fit perfectly.
