Bridal Gown Question $

I'm trying to look through the Knot's Wedding Dress pictures to get ideas of what designers I like, and i noticed that they label each dress from $ - $$$$$.  But what exactly are the real price ranges?? 
I am going to begin searching for my wedding dress soon and I'm having a hard time figuring out how expensive each designer really is.  I was hoping to spend no more than $2k - $3k.  Are there any designers you guys recommend?

I agree with PP Maggie Sottero is such a great designer, and reasonable prices. I went to a dress shop and didn't realize until i came home and looked at the Soterro website that almost every dress I picked out was one in her line.

You just need to find a boutique, and try a bunch on. You'll get an idea what you want and the price range, I've found so many great dresses under $1K

So that still didn't answer the question... what do the dollar signs mean... is "$" $100 or $1000... what are the rest of the price ranges indicated by the $$, $$$ and $$$$?
