Cannot figure out a colour for bridesmaids

So I am getting married in the summer of 2013 and would love to have a nice bright summery colour on my bridesmaids. However we are an Irish family and we are blessed with beautiful Irish skin, so bright colours don't really work with our skin tone. Blue is a good all arounder, but my sister had blue last year at her wedding. Purple is too dark, lavendar is light, but not bright.....
Any suggestions?

  • Orchid, a warm peach, coral, cotton candy pink, sea green?

  • Minty seafoam green would be very pretty!

  • I vote green as well, after all, green looks lovely on the Irish :) Maybe a kelly green?

Although I think green would be very flattering, it may be better to do a mix of blue and green? Teal is a very flattering color on most skin types and it defintely feels like spring. You said your sister had blue at her wedding, but was it a dark blue, indigo, violet blue, sky blue? There are plenty of variations on the blue/green theme that can be bright and different, especially if you spice it up with another accent color such as yellow or orange (these colors can be subtle remember, think a bowl of lemons on a few tables or peaches/oranges mixed into the floral arrangements, even napkins can add a spash of color that can help bring out and define the "color" theme of a wedding)

This website might help you find a color palette that includes a few shades to work with:

    Good Luck! :)
  • Thanks for the help guys. Real is a colour I hav me recently brought into my own wardrobe and was surprised at how well it looks. My sister had dark blue so brighter shades are an option, especially since we will be by the sea Corals look a bit lost on us as they blend with our skin tone too much and don't stand out I love link but my sisters are not so keen.
  • Ok so i just read through my last post. I must have been very tired, my spelling is atrocious! So TEAL is the colour I had recently added to my wardrobe, and PINK is the colour my sisters are not so fond of.
Thank you Ashbleyj, that link is fab!
