Nordstrom Bridal Dept.

Anyone used the Nordstrom Bridal Department for wedding dress shopping?  It seems that the Nordstrom in my hometown is just getting the bridal salon off the ground.  Any hints?  Tips?  Mishaps?  Please share!

Re: Nordstrom Bridal Dept.

  • I didn't even know they had one. I thought most of them had closed or done away with their bridal shops. I know many of the department stores have.

You may want to try posting this on your local board as this in an international board.
  • I work in a mall management office, and although I cant personally speak for the bridal dept. Nordstrom is well known for their customer service. So I dont see how you can go wrong.

  • They launched their wedding concept about six months ago with a special catalogue and online boutique. I'd imagine they carry most of what they show online (lots of Jenny Woo, BCBG, ABS, Badgley Mischka shoes) and maybe a few designer gowns in their Tier 1 stores. I don't live where there's a Tier 1 Nordstrom, so I've only checked out what they have online.

I think more and more stores are popping up wedding "concept" sub-boutiques after the success Ann Taylor and J. Crew have had with theirs. Saks and NM have scaled back their bridal boutiques but then Net-A-Porter has launched a bridal boutique online carrying the same designer gowns, shoes and accessories they carry. Which is great eye candy for those of us stuck in the Midwasteland with only the chain bridal salons.

  • Hmmm...unfortunately, I only have a bad review, but it may have had more to do with the dress.  My sister (who is getting married tomorrow!) ordered a dress from them.  It had some flower appliques that got absolutely squished in the box.  The dry cleaners couldn't even fix it.  They ordered two more dresses and had them sent to the store...same thing.   Now, if it had been a dress without embellishing, who knows, but I was very surprised at how it was folded up in this tiny box like it was a pair of jeans, when it is a *wedding dress*.  Much different from J.Crew, where her final dress came in a HUGE box, VERY well packaged.

It stinks because none of the Nordstrom locations carry bridal attire in the store, so you have to take your chances that it will show up looking nice.
