Grooms Shoes Help!

We are having a destination wedding in Mexico in a gazebo on the beach and are trying to figure out shoes for my fiance. He wants a boat shoe and I have been picturing him in a leather sandal. His suit is a sand coloured linen with a white linen shirt and an aqua/Caribbean blue tie, light tan belt.

He likes these shoes, and i am leaning towards them also - I just want him to be comfortable!!

I don't know about you but he and I make decisions together...

Also he asked me to post this for some ADVICE regarding HIS outfit...

Your wedding sounds really romantic and I love your FI's suit! I really like the boat shoes with his suit personally.

Here for opinions on what will look best!! And yes he did help pick my dress, but not my shoes as I haven't found any! And you started with the attitude... You ladies have issues, people planning wedding come on here for HELPFUL advice, not criticism. Didn't your parents ever tell you "if you canyon say anything nice, don't say anything at all?" you really should try it... Again, just looking for HELPFUL advice!!

Maddie, maybe you should try to find some chocolate or something?  You sound a little tense and snappy.

That said, I agree with your FI and think the boat shoes will look excellent with his outfit.

again, HE asked me to post asking for HELP trying to decide what would look better, you ladies are not helping. We are getting married away which should tell you how little details mean nothing to me. Neither he nor I are stressed about anything wedding related. We wanted honest FASHION advice, which is what I thought this board was for. I guess I was wrong.

Boat shoes all the way! I'm not sure if the pictures you posted are representative of the colors of the suit and shoes, but if it were me, I'd look for a shoe color that contrasted a bit more with the suit. Perhaps a light tan.

I'd also recommend you look at Sperrys, which are probably the best known brand of boat shoes, and are really comfortable. I own these and love how versatile they are.

As for sandals: I personally can't stand sandals, unless I'm at the pool or going to the beach (for beach-y purposes, weddings not included).

Ok, there.  Calm down.  You want to know what would look best?  The shoes.  Your fi appears to have good taste.  Sandals in general aren't a good look for a man dressing up.  They should be left for super casual events, like going to the pool, or maybe barbecuing in the back yard.

I personally hate the "man-dals".  A leather thong flip flop I like, but those kinds of man sandals I think are ugly.  Either boat shoes or different sandals.

Oh, and I kinda think you should lose the 'tude a little bit. MilkDuds (who, by the way, is a moderator and therefore not someone you should be particularly nasty to) said you should let your groom pick his shoes, and you launched in to a somewhat aggressive and sarcastic response, which I think was entirely unnecessary.  So just chill out a bit and we'll all be happy!

Thanks to the Doc!! We are going to Macy's this weekend and see if we can find a nice tan pair. I agree that it should be a bit more contrasting. I thought it was also too matchy with the suit colour! As for me being defensive - when attacked for absolutely no reason it's quite justifiable. I was on here for FASHION advice not life advice! Pay attention to the question being asked and you may be helpful to somebody one of these days! And a moderator should really know better and she should be much more helpful. As for thong sandals he does not like them he only ever will wear the slip-on ones. But thanks everyone, he will be going with the boat shoes.

if its on the beach just go barefoot! Your feet will sink into the sand anyway... are you wearing heels on the beach? My friend got married on the beach and she went barefoot her husband too ;D Good luck!!! ;D

Since this is what you asked, Milkduds shared her thought and advice.  Letting him choose, since more than likely he wouldn't be choosing your shoes, is pretty good advice.  You then ended up looking like a drama queen just because you didn't like her thought or advice.  She wasn't rude in the least, but you did over react.

Again it was thoughts or advice REGARDING the shoes or sandals...and one more time, he asked me to post this because neither of us were sure of which looks better. My question wasn't "should I let my fiancé wear these?". So a lot of you missed the real question trying to give life/relationship advice. And he did help me with my dress and I have been asking his options also regarding shoes, we value each others opinion. Once again those responses about let him choose I agree with, however we both weren't sure what would look best, so we turned here...which was obviously a bad idea! Don't worry I won't ask you people any more fashion advice.
