Accessories Help for a Non-Accessorizer! :)

Hi all,

I'm normally pretty bad at accessorizing (I usually forget to do it!) so I need a little help with shoes and jewelry :)

As far as shoes go, I'm thinking I want flats for at least most of the day-- I'm almost 5'7" and my FI is 6'0", and I kind of like the bit of a height discrepancy-- I also don't have a ton of room to hem my dress... without alterations, it's already pretty much where it should be. I'm thinking I want to find a pair of comfy, purple flats (purple just for fun- to go with my wedding colors), but I feel kind of "un-bridal" if I don't get heels! Thoughts on this? I'd definitely need a smaller heel if I get one, but I DON'T want something super expensive (especially if I'm not going to be wearing them much), and nothing super strappy-- my wedding is in January.

Jewelry-- my dress is V-neck lace/beaded, but also kind of simple. Our wedding is going to be formal and pulling in kind of a glimmery/winter feel (think: crystals hanging from birch branches, etc.), so I'm looking at "blingy" jewelry styles like this: http://www.dessy.com/accessories/cz-bridal-set/

My hair will most likely be all the way up in order to show off the low back of my dress, so I definitely want cool earrings to match whatever necklace I find!!

If it helps, here is what the top of my dress looks like:

Thanks for the help... I need it :)

  • Not really sure what you are asking. Do you want more accessories? Links to shoes you could consider?

That jewelry set looks really nice, and purple flats would be just fine. In fact, you are very smart to wear flats in winter!

Perhaps consider a faux fur shawl or a glittery jacket to wear outside?

Mostly I'm just not sure what would look good with my dress :) Just wondering if people have other ideas/links of styles (shoes or jewelry).

Thanks for the suggestions on the shawl/jacket... that's something I've been trying to figure out as well! I'm half-thinking about getting a dark purple cardigan to throw on when I'm outside, but not sure if that would be cute or too casual.

  • Personally I like to do big earrings with no necklace, especially because your dress has straps, I feel like that might add to much to that area.

As for shoes, what about something like this:

  • I'm doing purple shoes too!! Kitten heels are a good alternative to regular spiked heels - they are only about an inch high - it will give you that 'bridal feel' and not be too causal.

  • I'm wearing flats... I dont think you need heels to look bridal! No one is going to see them anyway
  • I'm wearing purple flats from Dessy.com.  I love them!!
