Colored Veil

I'm looking for opinions on colored veils. My wedding party will be wearing gray and I and I am really intrigued on wearing a colored veil which will tie in our wedding colors. After doing lots of searching on the internet, I am only turning up neutral colors or pink. Has anyone seen colored veils before? I'm not talking just the edging, but the entire veil as blue, green, purple, etc.

Re: Colored Veil

  • I've never seen a colored veil, except with the colored edge.  I'm sure depending on what it is made of you could dye it like you would the under part of your dress.
  • Veils are actually very easy to make, you might want to consider purchasing the color you want and making your own.  Buy it early so that you have time to buy something if you don't like what you make. You mentioned gray as the color your wedding party will be wearing, I'm not sure gray would be a flatering veil color, it might wash you completely out - maybe it will look fabulous. I think you'd need to get at least a couple yards, put it ove your head with your dress on and see how it looks.
  • Ditto PP on making your own veil.  You can find tulle in lots of pretty shades for a couple bucks a yard and you'll only need two or three yards.  I was actually going to have a peach veil but decided against it when my dress ended up being more ornate than I originally thought it would be, just felt it would be overkill and detract from the dress.  But I think the idea of a colored veil is awesome!  You should post a picture if you end up finding/making one, I'd love to see it!  :)

  • My older sister had a teal/turquoise veil to match the sash on her gown.  She made it herself using colored tulle.  I thought it turned out great and it was a fun, unique touch.
