Ordering Dress Online

I found my wedding dress at a local store and then decided to see if I could find it at a better price. After looking I found it at about 7 online shops and four of them had a better deal on the dress with shipping.  Has anyone used any of the following online shops?  I am nervous about purchasing the dress online due to horror stories, so I am looking to see if anyone on the knot has used any of these sites or heard any reviews of them.  In order of the best price: www.wholesaleweddinggowndress.com
www.weddinggownsgalore.com
www.modernbridalshop.com
www.discountbridal.org
Thank you in advance!

Re: Ordering Dress Online

  • The only ones I know of (and trust) would be Jay's bridal, Netbride, and RK Bridal.  I used Jay's and they were fabulous.  These are all brick and mortar stores and a lot of girls on the knot use them.

  • Pearls place is another that is reputable.
  • Pearls place is not an online store but does look like a great place to shop if I lived in the area.
Jaysbridal.net the dress was more expensive then the local shop I found it out.
RK Bridal I am having trouble finding the price of the dress, but did find the dress and e-mailed.
NetBride I have requested a quote on the dress and am waiting to hear back.

Thank you for your help and if anyone else has recomendations or reviews on the original list please let me know.
  • I used ebridalsuperstore.com, their service has been fantastic so far, and I saved 40% on my gown.

I should get my dress in a month (16 weeks total) , they are an authorized retailer for all the dresses they sell

While Pearl's Place doesn't have an actual order form online, you just have to call them to get a quote for the dress you want.  You don't have to visit their actual store.  They've been around a long time and are very reliable.  My mom ordered her dress from them and had a great experience.

  • Let me say that we have tried most of the above and Pearls Place is head and shoulders over all of them.  Just call them and you will get good and concerned service.  They get the best and fastest delivery and have the best prices anywhere.  We have tried the others for myself and friends and there is no contest here.
  • I could never order a dress online once I found it in a store. I would feel horrible for wasting the sales clerk's time and effort to help me. Then the owner who has to pay for all those dresses for brides to try on and basically use her for a dressing room. Then when you watch the news and see your local economy is suffering because people are buying from out of state. Then the government has to cut program and education funding because of low local revenue.

Then what if something is wrong with the gown...who did you talk to? A person? A computer? I like to be pampered and only another human can do that.

Then, is it a registered store to carry that dress? Go to the designer's website and see if you can ask them if it is. Most likely they are not and they have a disclaimer that says do NOT buy your gown online.

Talk to your local store and see if they can negotiate the price. I'm sure they don't want to lose you as a customer since they have spent so much time and effort helping you.

  • on a similar note, I found the bridesmaids dresses I want for my girls for $40 less with "bridesmaids.com." Does anyone have any experience with this company?

    Thanks in advance!
  • I actually bought my dress on EBAY.  I heard both good and bad stories about ordering like this.  I ordered early and was prepared to lose the money if it din't work out.  I paid 143 dollars for my dress (including shipping)  I had it done in a custom color and I had custom sleeves put on it and a zipper instead of a tie corset back. I sent my measurements  when I ordered.

The dress arrived.  It is beautiful!! Just what i ordered and fits like a glove.

Alot of people really knocked this but it worked well for me.

You must be new around here LOL.  I've been posting on the Knot since 2002.  In all that time, I've literally seen thousands upon thousands of positive reviews for companies like Pearl's Place and Netbride.com.  Not a single negative review!  Now that's an accomplishment!  Brides order from those companies for a reason- because of their stellar reputations.  Even the wedding bible Bridal Bargains gives them A ratings.  It's fine if you choose not to order online, but not all brides feel the same way.

  • Also, as far as whether these companies are registered, the answer is yes.  Both PP and Netbride are authorized dealers for all of the designers they sell because they both have actual brick and mortar stores as well (Pearl's Place in Louisiana and Rush's Bridal in Minnesota).  If you do your research, you'll quickly learn that these are two well known shops that have been around for a very long time.

  • I went today and found a dress that I LOVED... I literally shook when I put it on and tears came to my eyes... and I am NOT that kind of girl... in the salon they told me they could give me 20% off if I came back to the trunk sale and then paid everything at once... I called PP and they gave me a LOT more than that off of the price... I was thinking about ordering on there and this really rests my mind... we got our BM dresses at PP a few years ago for a friends wedding and they had amazing service... when I called today they were SO nice... as far as fedding the loal economy there is only so much I can do when I would be buying from a huge chain salon anyway and the difference is almost $1k!!!!!!!

  • I purchased a dress online from a company called Landy Bridal. They are based in China and make custom dresses.  You can choose a style from their webite or send the photo of what you want. I ordered my dress right before Thanksgiving and it arrived on Dec 28. The dress was very well made and exactly as expected.
  • I was thinking of getting my dress from ebay as well.  Do you mind me asking what seller you used?

    Thanks!
