I could use some help girls...

We've picked the venue, I thought I had my dress until my darling other decided to make our wedding themed. We are getting married in Vegas, with a mobsters/rat pack theme seeing thats what Vegas is infamous for. Anyone out there in the Cali area know places that do 1940ish vintage looking dresses or does anyone know of any sites I could check out. Any help would be appreciated

  • Moving the post to wedding theme boards...didnt see it til after the fact. Sorry
  • thank you so much for the links =)
  •      The Rat pack is more last half of the fifties through late sixties,  none of the WWII  or immediate post War look.

Look up Rat Pack - Frank Sinatra,  Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr,  Peter Lawford, Joey Bishop - Rat Pack.

The name was coined in about 1955,  just after the center for night club entertainment moved from New York  and Hollywood to  include  the mostly newly built,  mob controlled  casinos and nightclubs of Las Vegas as well.

The fashions  are very different from the forties-  think more Grace Kelly, Lauren Bacall,  Angie Dickenson, Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield   Glamour  Gals, lots of body hugging slinky,  sheaths,  and also greek goddess floating chiffons.

Since  Motion Pictures and Casinos and that new medium,  TV  shows had "standards"   most newspapers would not print "cheesecake"  photos showing plunging necklines  in any name magazine.
The Rat Pack, who wanted publicity,  had  tv variety shows (Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Joey Bishop were big tv end of fifties through 67),  and were broadcast from places like the Desert Sands,  or the Copacabana,  with mobsters  in attendance.

Most of the trademark women's fashion look with the mobsters  to  was not plunging necks but tight fitting through covered bodies,  sweetheart necked  moulded strapless,  or square and jewel  necklines with off the shoulder cap sleeves.
