BM Dresses

Do the BM dresses have to match the GM's vests? I wanted my BM's to wear black dresses and the GM's to wear purple vests.

No, ours did not match. My BM's wore 2 different color of dresses. Silver was our accent color, so all of the GM wore black tuxes with silver vests, shirts and ties.

no,  not at all.  In fact, most of the weddings i have been to lately...they have not matched. I think black and purplewill look awesome.

Mine don't match. My GM are wearing orange and the BM are wearing blue. Just so long as both colors are in the wedding in other aspects.

Ours will not match either. Bridesmaids will be wearing navy and groomsmen are wearing silver vests and ties. I agree with PP that matching can look too Prom-ish.

I agree w/pps on looking "promy" if they are too matchy-match.

We did pink BM dresses and dark brown suits/vest for guys.  Then they all had orange flowers to tie them together.

I'm so glad you asked this! I had already picked a light purple for the BM dresses and a royal blue for groomsmen vests. I was a little worried but after seeing this post I'm so glad I made the choice I did! I'm going to swap the flower colors to tie everyone together. So BMs will be in purple and carry blue bouqets. Groomsmen in blue vests will wear purple bouts. Fab!

They certainly don't have to match. Go with what you and your fiance feel most comfortable in! Sometimes the less coordinated it is the better. Plus black and purple are a great compliment to each other!

I agree, too matchy matchy makes it a little prom style and this is your BIG day!

I don't think they need to match at all.  My BMs are wearing purple (dark/egglpant) and the GMs are in classic black/white tuxes.  The BMs and GMs are both having white flowers.  I almost did the GMs with dark purple flowers but my bouquet is shades of purple so the groom is the only one with a purple boutinnere.
