Re: Found the dress!!

  • Is that sheer in the stomach area?  I think I've seen that dress on the show.  Its definitely a pretty dress, but a sheer dress was not at all for me for my wedding.

  • Isn't your wedding like 2 years away? I would caution you to buy a dress so early.

  • I agree with bethsmiles...it seems a little soon to get a dress.  Styles change in two years.  Besides, you're still technically growing into your body, and so your body may not even be the same at 20 as it is at 18.
  • I would also caution you against buying the dress so far from your wedding.  I know you just got engaged.  Do you have a venue yet?  I looked at hundreds of dresses online thinking I knew exactly what I wanted until I found my venue and I realized the dresses I loved would not fit with my venue at all.

I was just coming back to write this.

OP- I find it impossible to believe that 2 days after you got engaged, your father would take you to Kleinfeld's to look for dresses.  Especially after you said that you are 18, that the night you got engaged he had already told you he would pay for EVERYTHING, and gave you a $10,000 dress budget.  Also, for someone who has only been engaged for 3 days, you have committed almost every faux pas possible on the knot, such as trying to make a honeymoon registry, saying it YOUR wedding and YOUR day, saying your FMIL should butt out because she isn't paying a dime, and told another bride she should just replace her BM.  If you are not MUD, then you are without a doubt the most BSC bride I've ever seen.  I refuse to believe you are real.

I was thinking the same thing because I've read her other posts (very amusing!).

I also didn't think Kleinfeld's allows people to "drop by on a whim" without an appointment and go shopping.  It isn't Macy's.

What is a troll? I feel like I should know the answer but unfortunately I don't. At first I thought you were calling her a name, and the first grade teacher in me wanted to speak out on her behalf... Now I have seen others say this too, but I'm unsure of some of the "local lingo" :)
  • A troll is someone who comes into the boards and basically tries to start drama and problems.  Many times it is an AE (alternate ego) of another poster.  Like I said in my earlier post, this poster has had posts about everything that is majorly shunned about around here, like honeymoon registries, calling it HER wedding, saying daddy is paying, and IMO picking out a very contraversial dress to say she bought.  While it is possible I guess for this to be true, its extremely rare to find a bride that commits so many faux pas 3 days into her engagement, or even to be on the boards this much that quick.

  • Come on, you've got to be a little less predictable than that.  Of course the baby bride is going to choose the sluttiest dress out there.  You need some new material if you're going to be a successful troll.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. • C'mon green turtle.  This one's not even in the realm of believable.  If you're going to make "stuff" up, at least try to make it even a little bit possible.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • That dress is truly horrible. I hope you're fake just so that you don't have to put your guests through the hell of looking at that fugly dress all night long.

  • Ohhh... Thank you for the explaination! I was unaware of the MY vs. OUR wedding phrasing too, so I appreciate that heads up as well.
  • I'm glad your dad encourages Prosti-tot-ness.  My dad would have a freak out if I wore a dress so slutty, even at 27, but ESPECIALLY at 18.

I think I've also seen one like that on SYTTD, but it was a $30,000 dress.  Ridiculous.

  • i agree with PP that dress is awful.

i actually applied to the show just for fun, and you cant get into Kleinfeld without an appointment.

i cant wait until you take photos of you in the dress, and show you in the dress at the wedding and prove you are real.

@ dnbeach - you forgot about the Red Lobster proposal.  I refuse to believe the BF of a princess would propose there.

@Aerin - so glad I'm not the only one who thinks Pnina dresses are slutty.  I call them the Motley Crue dresses because they look like they should be on strippers in the Crue videos from 25 years ago.

@Turtle - unless daddy is Trump or Bloomberg, you don't get to drop into Kleinfeld's.  Please pick a bridge and stay there.

  • Seriously, I'm reasonably certain that the corset I wore under my wedding gown would be more appropriate as a top than the bodice of that dress.

  • Not only is it horrendous for the price, but hopefully in 2 years the slutty wedding dress thing will be done and then it will not only be tacky, but tacky and out of fashion.

    Kaching!
  • Okay, now I know this is MUD. You can't just go to Kleinfeld's 'on a whim'... This troll hasn't even seen SYTTD if she doesn't know that they're always booked solid.

  • LOL seriously...Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks Pnina's dresses look a little slutty.  Funnily enough when I went shopping with my mom, I was waiting for the lady to bring a dress and I was only in my corset and a crinoline.  My mother said:  Wow Cynthia, you could just wear that as your wedding dress and pass it as a Pnina!  I think we laughed for about 5 minutes non-stop.  I felt bad for the saleslady who came back wondering what the hell was going on.

  • WOW. I have so much to say. First of all, thank you Care for asking the question, I was really out of the loop on that one. LOL I thought troll was just because of her ugly personality. Also, I've seen that dress on SYTTD and I cringe everytime someone puts it on. It's terrible and I can truly see Turtlelove in it.

  • this is really getting out of hand.  i got my dress at kleinfeld and you can't just stop by on a whim.  you need an appointment, which can take over a month to get.  you also cannot take any pictures of dresses until after you have purchased it.  you are ridiculous.

also, although i think some people could totally rock a dress like this... i doubt an 18 year old would come close to be able to pulling it off.

I don't think its so much a matter of being able to pull off this dress, its a matter of who would actually want to look that trashy on their wedding day?  I think my Great Grandma would have had a heart attack in the church if I walked down the aisle in a sheer dress.  The priest too probably.
    imageBabyFruit Ticker
  • i'm with you, but to each her own.  i'm not going to criticize anyone's personal style.
  • I agree with PP.  I have a friend who is going to NY to film an episode of SYTTD.  Her appointment was made over a month ago, and she didn't even get to pick her appointment, they told her when her when it was.
The only reason why someone would wear a dress like that is for the attention.  But um.....you'll be the only one in a white dress, I'm pretty people wont get confused.  So why try to show off?  Or are you just looking to tell people you have a dress that cost 10K.  Expect looks of "OMG are you crazy?"  instead when you tell people that.  They arent going to be jealous.
And would feel incredibly guilty asking my parents to pay SO much for a DRESS!!!  Heck I would have said no if they offered no matter how much money they had.
  • I have been surfin around lately and seen turtles posts for the last few days and I am glad that someone finally explained she *might* be a troll.  However, I am highly concerned that people have the time to actually create another username to stir up drama.

  • What happened to waiting to buy anything?

I mean, if you're going to go for the "low class hooker" outfit on your wedding, you might as well save your $10,000 since that isn't much fabric for that much money!

And really, we all know you just want to look like this chick:
