Beach wedding, shoes?

Should we wear shoes, or go barefoot?  We are getting married on the beach.  The groom likes the idea of me wearing heals of some sort, so we can see eachother more eye to eye. (I am a little on the short side). any ideas?

  • I would go barefoot.  I can't imagine any type of heel, even wedge sandles, being easy to walk in on the sand.

  • I'd say if you're walking on the sand there's huge potential to bail in heels or wedges. But some places lay down a wooden aisle walkway, in which case as long as you're careful not to step in the cracks or if you're wearing wedges, you'll be fine.
  • I would go barefoot, but the sand might be really hot or you could do wedge flip flops.  They come in all heights, but not sure how high you're wanting.

  • I'm going barefoot for our beach ceremony and wearing flats for some of the pictures and for the reception.

I don't recommend switching from a barefoot ceremony to heels at the reception because of gown length.  You don't want to see your shoes all night, but you also don't want to have your gown too long for your ceremony & trip all over it.

Talk to your FI and see how important it is that you are a similar height.  It might be worth looking into laying down a wooden aisle or something similar to that.
  • I'm having beach ceremony as well I'm going barefoot maybe flip flops really depends though ... For reception flip flops ... I wear heals every day for work I want to be as comfortable as possible plus I plan on my dress being to floor so no one notices I'm not wearing shoes lol
  • Have you checked out the "barefoot sandal" option? I'm not having a beach wedding, but if I were, I would totally go in that direction. It doesn't help with your height dilemma, but I think it adds something pretty while still allowing you to walk.
  • Perhaps a pair of espadrilles for him and a tasteful pair of sandals for you?

  • As a FL girl who has spent a load of time on the beach, I would NOT go barefoot! There are plenty of sharp shells, hot sand, dog poo, etc for you to step in and it wouldn't be fun to deal with as you were walking down the aisle.

Go with flip flops. If you really must, take them off right before you go down the aisle.
