odd question

I know a lot of women are planning on wearing Spanx or something under their dress.  I'm not really trying to suck it all in, but in all honesty I DO want something to keep my thighs from touching.  It's just so hot under that dress, and when my thighs touch they tend to sweat if it's warm out.  I may use powder, but I think I would be most comfortable if I had some kind of undergarment/short that at least goes mid-thigh.  Honestly, I would love it to be cotton since I live in Florida and my ceremony is outside (even in October it can be hot down here), but most of what I have seen in the stores isn't even a cotton blend.  If it can't be cotton, I don't want it to be too thick/constraining.

Any suggestions???  (Thanks!)

Re: odd question

  • I was married outdoors in Gainesville Memorial weekend last year.  I had the same issue and I ended up wearing Spanx.  It was a good thing I did because I was so hot all night long.  I recommend Spanx because they stayed put.  I tried on other brands but they always rolled up (or down at the waist).

  • I don't know the silhouette of your dress, but if it's not too tight I bought a pair of slip shorts to wear under everyday skirts and dresses. It's the same slip material, but they are shorts so your thighs won't rub. They are sort of loose like a slip, too. I'm pretty sure I got them at Macy's or a similar department store.

  • Spandex rocks! It doesn't curl up like the PP was saying.

  • I like Assets - same designer as spanx and sold at target.  She makes the kind that are shorts - go up to waist and feel pretty comfotable on.
  • I was going to wear hi-power spanx but I was so hot without them.  I am keeping my eyes open for some other mid-thigh undergarments.  I may try the short slips

  • I know that a lot of department stores are carrying cotton-blend leggings since the 80's look is coming back...could you just find a pair and hem them to your desired length??
  • This sounds funny, but what about compression type/spandex shorts? I wear them when I run to keep my thighs from rubbing, so it could work under the dress too. I have a pair of white ones that were $7.99 at Academy. Just an idea.
  • Thanks for all the ideas, ladies!  I am so much more hopeful about going out and looking some more.  :-)
