waterproofing dyeable shoes?

I have dyeable shoes from DB, and I am wondering if there's any sort of waterproofing spray that I can use to prevent any damage if it rains on the day of the wedding.  I know there are sprays out there, but are any of them safe for dyeable shoes?  TIA!

Re: waterproofing dyeable shoes?

  • "Shoe dye can bleed or stain: Shoe dye is water-soluble, so if your dyed shoes get wet, the color can bleed. This can be addressed with a waterproofing spray; however, keep in mind that once your dyeable shoes are sprayed, they can't be redyed." -myglassslipper.com

"When custom dyeing bridal and prom footwear, protect your shoes with a water repellent spray but be sure the spray will work on your fabric and won’t alter the shoe color. The spray will prevent most staining but will not make your bridal or prom shoes waterproof. Please be aware that once sprayed, the shoes cannot be re-dyed. We recommend you keep your spray on hand in case of inclement weather and avoid spraying your bridal or prom shoes unless absolutely necessary." -dyeableshoestore.com

Looks like you can do it with just an OTC spray. Good luck!
  • DB told me that I should get some of the waterproofing spray.  Good luck
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • Thanks ladies!  I will by some of the spray.
