Worried about weight gain and ring size

I have finally decided on the wedding band I like but I'm worried about having to size it in case I gain weight in the future. I'm 125lbs. 5'5 now...but I'm also only 28. Chances are in the future, I'm bound to gain some weight.

I can only size the ring about a size and a half, before it would start to affect the quality of the ring. It's not an eternity band, but it's a very detailed ring that I heard can be sized only about 1 1/2 maybe 2 sizes up. Right now I am a size 5 1/2 and it's a little loose on me (so they were going to size the wedding band to 5 1/4).

Question is how many pounds would I have to gain before it starts to affect ring size? I have read that women who gain/lose weight have to get their rings sized to fit them but I'm wondering how much would I need to gain in order for that to happen?

Has anyone experienced this and did it greatly affect your size when you gained weight.? Numbers would help here if you have them (i.e. ring size to lbs. gained). Or did you not have to size your rings at all?
