Chair rental pricing

We got a quote for renting some white folding chairs for our outdoor ceremony, and I was a bit floored, as it is $650 including the delivery, set-up and take-down. Is this typical? I would like to see if I can get a better price, any suggestions? Wedding is in Dover.

May end up having to just suck it up, as I do not want to go chairless. I've been to some outdoor weddings where everyone just stood, but I think chairs are probably better...

    What kind of chairs were you looking for?  I have an old price list from last year from Taylor Rental in Concord, NH back when we thought we'd have to rent chairs (no clue how their prices compare to others or what delivery costs):

    Brown Plastic Folding:                        $1.00

    Ivory Plastic Folding:                           $1.50

    Wedding White

    Plastic Folding                                     $1.75

    White Bistro                                        $1.50

    White Padded Folding             $3.50

    I agree with you, please get chairs and don't make your guests stand.  Not only does it cause confusion on where the guests should be, but you should make your guests comfortable. HTH!

    Yep, agreed, definitely with over 100 people, standing would be chaos! I have been to two ceremonies where guests (except the elderly relatives) stood for the ceremony and I found it odd and uncomfortable--especially in high heels!

    I will check out Taylor rental though I worry they are too far from Dover. But thanks!

    There is a Taylor rental in Dover, maybe its Rollinsford, I think its on Rte 4,

    Where is Dover is your ceremony? i'm having my reception in Dover :-)

    The Taylor Rental is probably your best bet for local places... I don't know of any others in the area.

    I got descent prices from Taylor Rental in Farmington, (basically in Rochester, as they are right on the line) I'm not sure how the Taylor Rentals work, if you will find different prices at each different location or not. It's worth checking out a couple I bet.

    Our reception is at Rivermill in Dover, brand new place. I am excited about it, it's for sure a unique venue!

    I will call Taylor Rental, I didn't know they were in Dover too! I bet they have better pricing. Thanks!
