2 garters?

I am wondering if it would be weird to have 2 garters? I want to keep my garter, but we're also doing the garter toss at the reception. I am thinking about making 2, one to keep, and one to throw. (Like with the my/toss boquet) Also, if this isn't weird, how would you do this? Would you wear both the whole time, change them before the toss? What?

I thought that was the standard, wearing the toss garter lower on your thigh than the keep garter.  But, I'm also not doing garters so really I have no idea.

I've heard of this.  One bride I knew never actually wore the toss garter - they didn't make a big deal of the groom taking it off of her because they didn't like that part, he just threw it.  Another did what Kim above describes, where the two are both on the leg and the lower is taken off and tossed.

You can have 2 gaters...a toss garter and a keepsake garter. That is the way I have always heard it.

Yes, garters are usually sold as a set. You can choose to wear both or just the garter you plan on throwing for the garter toss.

I bought two: one to keep and one to throw.  I had mine custom made by peterenedesign at www.etsy.com The keepsake is fancier than the toss garter.

I thought having two garters was the norm. I'm keeping the one I''ll be wearing and he'll take it off as a keepsake. My MOH will be keeping the spare one somewhere and will hand it to him to toss.

Side note, it's the same idea as your toss bouquet, you won't be carrying both :-)

I wore 2 garters.  One was elegant and I kept it.   The other was Steelers-themed, and I bought it at a specialty bridal shop.  The guys went cRaZy for it... two actually rolled around on the ground a bit... boys!  Just wear the toss-away garter lower than your keepsake, and make sure your guy knows which one to take off
