Please help me find my dress!

Hello everyone!

This is my first board post. I am just desperate to find my dress! Here's the story...
I went to a local salon today and there it was... my dream dress! I absolutely adore it. However, the staff was very strange. They refused to tell me any information at all about the dress, not even who designed it! I can understand not wanting people to take pictures of the gowns in your salon, but I think it's very rude to not tell someone the designer of the gown they want to purchase. They didn't have tags in the gowns, either.
The gown was an ivory color and seemed to be a slim a-line. It was strapless with a more sweetheart bust. It was beaded, but not over the top. Just on the bust and the hemline. Underneath the bust in an empire fashion was a sage green beaded belt with a bow in the middle. They assured me that this belt/ribbon could also come in ivory.
I am just hoping that somewhere out there, someone has seen this dress and might know who makes it! I still will probably purchase it from the salon I visited, but I would really like to know who the designer is and be able to view it online and see the materials it is made from as well. Thank you so much for any help! The price in store was about $1,000 if that helps at all.

  • Does this store have a website?

  • I was in a similar situation that you are in.  I found a dress in the store, but didn't have any information about it.  The store where I found the dress had a website and they listed all of the designers that they carry.  I sat down and (tediously, I might add) went through the collections of every designer that the store carries.  I DID find my dress (it was from the second-to-last designer that I looked at, go figure) but now I know which dress it is.

I know it might be a lot of work, but I think you might have better luck than just giving us a description.

    Good luck!

  • Yeah, that sounds incredibly shady to me. I wouldn't give them a dime.

Seriously, in a world filled with millions of dresses, you WILL be able to find something you love just as much elsewhere.

  • They DO have a website, but they don't list all of the designers that they carry... just a handful. : (  Thanks for your help though, ladies! I really hope that I find it!
  • That is super shady! They probably have it overpriced and don't want you to be able to go find it elsewhere for cheaper. *Most* of the places I went let me take as many pictures as I wanted and wrote down the designer and style name of the dress for me.

Have you checked with other bridal salons in the area? They seem to generally know a little about the brands their competitors carry. Or get someone to sneak in there and take a picture of it for you...Wink
  • I agree it's not ideal, but I think the stores do it to protect themselves.  They don't want people coming to their store, trying on dresses, and then going somewhere else to buy it.  If you don't know who makes the dress, you can't go somewhere else to buy it.  It might mean they are jacking up the price, but maybe not.  If I were you, I'd look at other stores, and if you still LOVE that dress and you can afford it, go for it!
