I am having a dilema deciding on what color vest for the guys- my girls are wearing brown with a babyblue sash. Would you do a black tux with a brown vest or a baby vest?
Go to the shop where you got the girls dresses, they should give you a swatch of the fabric and colour (for free). I would take the swatch to the place where you are getting the tuxes and have them help you. Thats all I did.
Our guys are wearing black tuxes with black shirts. FI is wearing a black vest and Ivory tie. BM is wearing Ivory vest and tie, GM are wearing Forest green vests and ties. (They are matching the girls sashes on their dresses). I got the swatch from the salon and took it to the place where the guys are getting their tuxes, they were very helpful and it only took us about an hour for everything including my FI to get sized.
Baby blue! I've seen it done and it looks good. I think brown would look awful with the black but then again I've never been a fan of mixing those two shades. Where are teh BM dresses from? David's Bridal and Alfred Angelo partner up with tuxedo places for color matching. I'm not sure which one AA is partnered with but David's Bridal works with Men's Wearhouse.
My girls wore black, and they had pink flowers. We really only wanted pink as an accent color, so we had the guys wear black vests with a pink tie and pink pocket squares. I love how it looked. So if you want to do keep the baby blue as an accent color you could do black vests with the baby blue tie.
As for the black and brown, i think it actually does work with tuxes. My dad wore the same tux and vest as the GMs, but we got him a truffle colored tie and pocket squares to match my mom's dress. I thought it looked really sharp together.
Have you thought about doing a chocolate tux with the baby blue vest and tie? Or- you could do chocolate tux and vest with just the blue tie. That would look nice, also! It would compliment the girls' just having the blue on sashes.

matchy vests are just way too prom-y. i think blue should be your last choice.
