Dress Dilemma!

So I purchased a dress a few months ago, had it altered and just took bridal pics this past Monday. While looking at the dress in the pics I realized I don't love it as much and the fit is horrible!!! Its strapless and I was constantly picking up the bodice because it kept sliding down. Now I came across a different dress and I absolutely love it. But I've already invested in the dress, alterations, and accessories of the first one! I'm so lost :-(

Re: Dress Dilemma!

  • Hi. Okay, your dilema is sucky,  but can be fixed! Three thoughts:

Option 1: Go back to the seamstress. They should fix it for you until it fits perfectly - that is their job. If you're over the seamstress that did the supposed altering, find a new tailor who specializes in wedding gowns. When a dress is altered correctly it should fit you like a glove- in a good way - and move with you, not against you.

Option 2: Go to a bra-fitting specialist, and I don't just mean at a department store, a real bra-fit specialist. Type it into google with where you live and some options should come up. Explain the issue, visit them with your dress and they will figure out the perfect undergarmets that can help you out so you are "locked and loaded," so to speak.

Option 3: Wear the dress as is for the ceremony. Be one of those uber trendy brides that changes into a second white dress for the reception!

Good luck, and remember you will laugh about this one day....the story of the ill-fitting wedding dress.

  • yeah, seriously your dress should not be fitting like that--your seamstress needs to step up her game.  Stop looking at that other dress and concentrate on this one first.  It's no wonder you don't like it anymore if it fits so terribly!  I'm sure when they had it on you in the salon, they used those big pinchers to take it in so it fit like a glove, or at least they pinned it, right?

It should fit like that when the seamstress is done.  Best of luck.
