Advice for a veil?

Hey guys!  So I'm starting to think more about my veil, and was wondering if I could get your opinion on a couple things.  I'd like to be veiled while I walk down the aisle, even if it's a little birdcage with a fascinator, it's what I want.

However, I'm strongly considering doing a victorian or 20s headband with a veil tucked under my updo  (see inspiration picture below).

Is it possible to have a blusher veil even though the veil will be attached under your hair?  I know that physically it's possible to do it, but has anyone seen it done?  In my head, it just wouldn't look right to pull a blusher over the hair that way--especially with the veil so low at the nape of the neck.  What do you think?

(FYI, for those who aren't sure, the blusher veil is the short(er) veil that gets draped from the back over your head/face in front... then the dad or groom lifts it off your face at the altar.  So I was thinking of using a long tule veil in the back and a tule blusher for the front--both attached at the same place).

Re: Advice for a veil?

  • I am sure you can physically do it, but personally I would think it would look odd.  Can you start with a simple updo with the veil on top and then switch to a headband/veil under the updo for the reception?
  • As you said, it's definitely physically possible to do it. I think it wouldn't look that great however.

On bridezillas, I saw a girl with a blusher that was attached on top of her updo and then she also had a regular veil that was attached under her hair. That looked horrible - please do not do that. :-)

I would ditto the pp and say switch the veil after the ceremony. I was also veiled going during down the aisle (BTW, I love the word 'veiled') and it was one of my favorite parts of the wedding. My mom and dad said it was too old fashioned but I love that I did it and it made for some great pictures. Definitely do it, if it's what you want.

GL and HTH! Oh, and your hairstylist should be able to show you as many different ways of wearing your veil as you want during your hair trial if you're having one.

  • Thanks so much guys.  I agree that having the two positions on the veil would look absolutely dreadful, but changing the position from ceremony to reception would be great.  That sounds like a pretty good idea!  Thanks!
