So I bought some jewelry that I loved and tried it on with my dress at my first fitting. Click here to see the dress.

So the dress has embelishments consisting of silver thread, little pearls, silver sequin and other tiny little tube beads that are silver but with more of a yellowy tint.

My silver necklace looked WAY TOO silver and bright. I didn't realize that the embelishments in the dress had such a more toned down, almost yellow tint.

I'm looking for advice on how to shop for silver/crystal jewelry (I'm not a pearl kind of girl!) that is more dull than bright. Does this style have a name? Are there certain terms I should search?

My choices around town are lacking so I'm trying to do it online but it's so hard to tell from photos.

Any ideas??

Did both the chain AND the rhinestones in the jewelry look to bright for the dress? or is it just one of the components?

If it's just the stones, how do you feel about colored crystals? or maybe go with a Citrine? I would stay away from faceted crystals, as they refelct a lot of light and look bright.

If it's the necklace chain.. I know some descriptions say "Antique Silver Chain" and it will be a dull-version of sterling silver

Beyond that (which isn't much help!) I would check with the designer of the gown to see if they have a jewelry line. Maybe they have something that will work, or... at least a description that will lead you in the right direction.

You might try searching for jewelry with an "antique" finish. Or you could go all the way and just buy vintage jewelry. You can get surprisingly good deals and selection on ebay.
