Just saying... if she can't find one, there are loads that are similar... and with a good seamstress, she'll have her own one of a kind dress.

I've tried all of this. She doesn't want something close - I've presented no less than 25 different substitutes (Sottero & Midgley "Adorae" looks almost the same! You can get a knockoff made by Chinese tailors!) She even called Kleinfields in New York and they said it was $7,000 which is waaay out of her range but she's obsessed with it (yes, a dress she saw for 2 minutes ON TV on Say Yes to the Dress). She's about to try and fly up from Louisiana for a trunk show in NY, that's how serious she is. I'm trying to help her save money because she just bought a new car AND a new house and she and her b/f lost their jobs... A healthy dose of reality might be in order, but I'm still going to try and make her day special for her!

At least encourage her to try on a dress that looks similar.  It would be awful to go to all this trouble to track down the dress, only to get it on and find it's about as flattering as a sack.  It happens to a LOT of brides.  I know personally, the first dress I obsessed over in pictures looked wretched on.
