Jenny Packham Gowns

I am searching online for styles I like and I just fell in love with Jenny Packham's gowns.  They also match my English garden/ Great Gatsby feel to the wedding.   However, they look very slinky.  I have boobs, hips, and a butt - is this going to be a problem if I try on these gowns? They look made for "ruler shaped" women.   Can any Jenny Packham brides let me know if this true?

Also, any idea of prices?  I want to keep my gown under $6,000 if possible (but might go up if I find a really extraordinary gown that I must have).

Re: Jenny Packham Gowns

  • Do you have a link? $6000 should be okay. She is a designer to the stars so her stuff looks great on waifs.
  • All you can do is try them on and see how they fit. Try not to be too married to one specific designer. I was almost 100% sure I wanted a lace dress and when I tried on a few all I could thing was "get me out of this, now."

  • @achiduck, I agree - I've tried not to be married to any particular designer or style.  The Packham gowns were the first ones though that excited me.   So before I did go gaga, I wanted to know if they are gowns that aren't going to work with curves.

@NYCMercedes, I can't link directly to any of the dresses, but here's the website:

Thank you both for your replies!

  • I'm pretty skinny (like 32C, 24 waist, 35 hips), and I tried on her dresses, and I could see how one could feel uncomfortable at certain sizes in her dresses without spanx, etc, because they would show every flaw (admittedly I could only see half the dress bc they only had them in a size 12). On the other hand, if you're curvy like Kim Kardashian or JLo (magically without cellulite), I think the dresses would still look beautiful. I swear I saw them on a curvier girl online... but alas, I can't find now. One thing I will say is that I found her dresses to be a bit itchy on the edges where there was beading. And the alterations process seemed like it would be a nightmare.

  • Consider Ian Stuart. He has some stuff that would fit that look, IMHO, and his dresses are cut for women with curves. Jenny Packham's dresses are like Claire Pettibone's-again, IMHO-they aren't really cut for someone with more than a B cup, let alone hips.

  • I'll definitely check out those designers.  Thank you!

  • @zizibet, I just checked the Ian Stuart website and just FELL IN LOVE with the Basiclla dress.  Thank you for mentioning those gowns - they're beautiful and though I'm not going to let myself think it is the one until I try it on, I think I found a good idea about what I want.

    Thanks so much.

  • You're welcome. The dresses have amazing construction too-there's a 21 boned corset built into each one.
