Hi everyone!
So I just purchased my wedding dress and am very happy with my choice. And now I have a quick question about alterations:
I have a small waist and full hips. The mermaid dress I purchased was in a size big enough to fit my hips perfectly, but now the top will be much bigger...I know that this is what the alterations are for, but I'm worried about the fact that my dress has a corset top....will a seamstress be able to alter a corset to make it much smaller? The bridal store assured me they would, but I wanted an unbiased answer from my fellow brides.
Have any of you had a corset altered to make it smaller?
Thanks for reading this!

Where did you get your dress? I got mine at David's Bridal and just used their seamstress. Other than one small issue with me wanting the hem slightly higher than where she originally put it, everything else went fine. The dress now looks like it was sewn to fit my body.
I know some people have had horrible experiences using the seamstresses at the shops they buy their dress, and I know that sometimes the prices are ridiculous, but when it came to my dress I just felt that they probably have done an alteration on this dress for another bride, or something similar and were familiar with the style and how it should lay.
To answer your question, I live in Toronto, and I purchased my dress at a shop that sells Maggie Sottero dresses! According to the reviews I've read about their alterations department, they seem to do a good job!
Now the waiting begins!

[QUOTE]Oh yes, that's pretty easy for them to do. I know that when you have a dress with a different back that needs to be altered, they generally make the back into a corset because they can do alterations much easier with it.
