Online dresses

I have found a dress online that I love! I can't find it in stores anywhere. I'm a little iffy on purchasing my dress online. Has anyone purchased theirs online? If so, where did you get yours from?

Re: Online dresses

  • Honestly, you may love the dress online but once you try it on you may hate it.  Unless you have actually tried the dress on I wouldn't purchase it online.

Also, like MilkDuds said, you need to be wary of online sites because they could be knock-off sites.

...the reason why I am asking if anyone has purchased their dress online and if so what site...

There is a local dealer who buys dresses (prom/wedding/etc) So I'm sure if I didn't like the dress they would most likely purchase it (I do realize that is not guaranteed). I have had experience with them before and she was fair in her pricing when purchasing prom dresses from me.

Yeah, I still don't understand your reasoning.  Everyone is different so just because one person found their dress online and loved how it looked on them doesn't mean you will.  Putting a wedding dress on is a lot different then seeing it on a model or up on a hanger.  What you think you love you may hate and what you think you may hate you may end up loving.

IMO, buying an expensive dress just to see if you will like it on is a big risk especially if you aren't guaranteed you can sell it and get your money back.

  • I could never buy my dress online. There were several dresses I loved in photos that I didn't like at all on me - and I know a lot of brides had the same thing happen. It's a pretty popular maggie gown. I'd look on the maggie website for a bridal salon near you that carries the dresses. Call and see if they have this one, and go try it on.

The plus is, even if you don't like this dress, it's usually a pretty good bet you'll like other dresses by the same designer (that's what happened to me).
  • I'm going to call here in a minute and see if they have that dress in stock. I'm afraid its going to be a super expensive dress though. Does anyone know a range for her dresses?

  • Very popular gown, my friend is wearing it in a wedding in May.  As for Maggie gowns you need to order from a authorized store as they will not allow discounting from any authorized dealer.  A word on Maggie gowns, they fit fabulous.  That is what makes them great.  My friend got hers at Pearl's Place.
  • I thought about ordering a dress online for a minute... (before I realized it was one of the chinese dress folks) so, I emailed them with a couple of questions about fit, color, etc.  That tiny bit of communication CURED me from wanting to order it.  They didn't actually reply to any of my specific questions, they just said "whatever you want... whatever you want... we will make it for you... blah blah".
