What strapless bras and undergarmants have you ladies found that have really smoothed things out nicely under a slightly form fitting dress?

I haven't even begun to purchase my undergarments yet, and my dress is not form-fitting, however I will say that Spanx Power Panties work wonders for me. I'm between sizes according to the charts, but when I want some extra "sucking in" I will wear the smaller of the two sizes. Since the bottom half of my dress is not form fitting, I doubt I will be wearing Spanx the day of, however I am in search of a fantastic bustier that will suck in my middle a bit. Let me know if anyone can recommend a good brand or place to look.

spanx were my savior under my dress. I highly recommend the Higher Power spanx. They really suck in and smooth nicely!

I bought spanx but my seamstress told me that I didn't need them and to take them back.  I tried my dress on with them and without them, but I found that they really didn't make that much of a difference.  I was more comfortable without being squeezed all over.  My dress is extremely fitted from the empire waistline all the way to my lower thighs.  

I would definitely recommend trying them out, it will just depend on your dress and comfort as to whether you'll actually need them or not.

Victoria's Secret has nice shapewear online, but not all the stores carry everything.  I ended up going around to 4 or 5 department stores just to find the right longline bra, so if you have time they each have a few items of shapewear.
Kohl's and Target both have a decent selection of shapewear too.  Target's Assets leggings and control underwear are pretty similar to spanx and about half the cost.
