Dress Ideas for my Mom????

My mom asked me to help get her dress, but I have no idea what would look good on her. She's average height and overweight (sorry, but its true), and I don't think she'd want to wear anything too "modern". I'm at a total loss here so any suggestions about what would look good is great!

I think you should just go shopping and see what looks good on her figure. My sister and I are the same pant size but have completely different body types and look very different in the same clothes. So, just saying she's plus sized doesn't really help.

Go shopping with her, be honest when things don't look good in a nice positive way, and reassure her that she looks great when she does find something she feels good in. My mom is plus sized, she knows this, but she's also wearing a gown that isn't frumpy that she also feels and looks gorgeous in. Happy Shopping!

It should be a nice way to spend time with her and you'll look back on it with great memories.

It's hard for overweight Moms to feel good about their selections. Most major department stores (Macy's, Nordstrom's, J C Penney, Sears, Lord & Taylor, etc) all have great cocktail & formal dresses in many sizes. Go to a mall that has multiple department stores. Allow pretty much all day to shop with her. Have a nice lunch or dinner. Enjoy the process, don't dread it.

Thanks for the advice guys! The reason I asked was because I didn't want to spend a lot of time searching for a dress (oh the irony), but now that I think about it I haven't spent a day with my mom in forever.
