Nervous about alterations!

I went for my first dress fitting/alteration 2 weeks ago.  I bought it from a shop that has an in-store (or more than 1) seamstress.  It needs to be hemmed a few inches along the bottom & cups sewn into the top.  She seemed to know what she was doing, but it made me a little nervous when she stuck pins right through the front of the dress to pin the cups on... I thought to myself, aren't you going to be able to see the pin holes?  Since then I've been wodering how they will do it so the stitching won't show through?  My dress has flowy fabric (maybe organza) on top (see link).  Last week one night I had a nightmare that I went to try on the dress & it was just awful looking-   the next day I had a message from the bridal shop that she was done with the alterations.  I have to go try it tomorrow.  Does anyone know how they do the stitching so it doesn't show through???

  • Your bodice is lined with satin. They'll sew the cups to that, so you won't see any stitching.

  • Try and relax =]  They are professionals, they do this everyday because it is their job.  I had my entire neckline changed and cups sewn in, and it looks fabulous.  I agree with PP in that they'll most likely attach the cups to the lining, and I would most definitely not worry about the stitching showing everywhere.
