Bright colors too much?

We're having a late July wedding. I've just started planning but, being the decorations lover that I am, have been playing with color schemes. I love teal (on the darker side) and lime green together, but feel those colors need a contrasting color. I've toyed with bubblegum pink, but will that overwhelm the eyes?

I know I want to use one of the bright colors for the bridal party, but I'd like the decorations to be white with accents of bright colors. Are three bright colors too much? Any ideas?

  • I don't think teal and lime green need another accent color. Use the white accents with them and it'll look great.  I think adding the pink in there might become too much.

  • If you wanted to do pink, I would do it super pale.  Since the two colors you're favoring are very intense, your third should be contrasting in intensity as well as in value and chroma.  Otherwise, throw white into the mix and use all three of the bright colors sparingly.  But you definitely need something to balance and mellow it out.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I would suggest black as a color to break up the intensity of the colors and make it elegant and great for a summer/fall wedding.
  • I love the black idea! Thanks so much. I put teal, lime green, black, and white together and I think it looks amazing -- playful yet classy. Much to my added amazement, one of the venues I looked at uses teal in their decorating colors. Totally meant to be. :)
