Weight gain after buying the dress

For the last two years, I have weighed the same amount. I bought my dress already (3 months til my wedding) and it can't be returned. I just noticed this past week that I have started gaining weight. I haven't changed my eating habits and I already go to the gym regularly. I'm going to start being much more careful about what I eat and working out a little harder, but I am concerned about not fitting into my dress. I'm not actually worried about a few pounds - it's the fact that the dress might not fit and I will have to buy a whole new one a month before the wedding with no time to get it fitted. I know most people go the opposite way and get the dress taken in, but does anyone know how to deal with the dress being too small? Thanks so much for any advice.

does it have a corsete back?  if it does it will expand a little with you if you need it to...that is pretty forgiving, if not, you can probably have one put in for a little extra $$ (I know Davids Bridal charges like $150), and no problems...just curious if none of your habits have changed if you might be pregnant?  Just something you might want to check.  It is probably just wedding stress though, and not much to worry about.  Good Luck!
  • Wedding dresses are designed so that they can be let out a little or taken in a little (or a lot). If it's just a few pounds, there will probably be a way to make it work.

Are you hitting the gym harder than before?  If so, it may not be weight gain that will affect your dress.  Muscle weighs more than fat and if you are gaining muscle sometimes you will gain "weight" (a couple of pounds) but actually be loosing inches.

  • How long do you have to go? You should be fine if you are exercising and watching what you eat. I also agree with pp bc I, too have been working out a lot and have been building muscle that I have never had before.
  • I was told that for me 5 pounds either way wouldn't make a difference anyway since weigh gain is spread out all over your body.  Don't pay attention to the scale.  The real question is whether or not your measurements have changed.  If they have, you could look into spanx - it sounds like lots of ladies on here fnd them helpful for sucking things in.
  • I agree with PP...you still have a few months before your wedding, so if you just buckle down on your eating habits and exercise, you should be fine.
