Bridemaid Dress Help

My wedding is in March of next year.  I already know what dresses I want for my bridesmaids, however, I do not know what type of fabric I would like for them to wear.  I would like satin because the groomsmen ties are satin red, but one of the girls informed me that they may be trying to get pregnant (the baby would be due next year) and I'm not sure if satin is the best option...maybe a chiffon would be more giving to her figure.  HELP!!

Re: Bridemaid Dress Help

  • PS- St. Louis weather around March can be unpredictable, so I'm trying to keep that in mind too.  Thanks! :)
  • I would leave it for now and re-address the situation in 6 months time.  No need to shop yet.

  • Maybe you could pick a shade you like, and let the girls pick dresses in whatever color or fabric they like?  For example, you could look at David's Bridal shade "Apple" (kind of a ruby red), and then let them pick from whatever style they want in that color.

This. Your taste my change in six months anyways. Also, I'm sure there will be new dresses out by the time you look again in six months.

  • We had our bridesmaids choose their own dress.  We had girls of different sizes with very different budgets.  They all had different dresses and it looked really great.

We used apple red from David's Bridal.

    Good luck.

good in theory, but DONT do this.  The same color will look different in various fabrics. The only way to do this would be to physically hold both fabrics together in the same shade to ensure a match.

take the girls shopping and figure out a color and a fabric.  if anything, let them choose the style of dress.  FWIW my girls chose Mori Lee 744 and it looks awesome on different body shapes... and would probably work for an early pregnancy too.
  • All great suggestions!  I figure with prom season, it would be easier to find a good looking dress that is less expensive.  That's why the concern now.  I have looked at David's Bridal, and their Apple color looks like the color of the guys' ties (since the ties are coming from Mens Wearhouse...I think those stores are associated with each other).  Please keep them coming.  Thanks! :)
  • march next year! it is too early! your bridesmaids may cancel... hopefully, they will not ;)  but, i would wait for at least 6 months. btw, there is new impression bridal store in kennesaw opened a couple of weeks ago. i was there last weekend. very pleasant experience. say hi to kyle if you go ;)
  • Ok...I can see waiting.  However, it doesn't hurt to start looking right?
