Dyeing a corset for my dress?

Okay, so I'm already envisioning lots of "No's" before I even ask this but: I'm having a corset put in my dress and I'd love to dye it light pink to match my FI's tie...since I'm just adding one I could get two and then if it doesn't work out I could just use the white one.

I'd love to do this because the GM and BM will be in purple, then FI and I would have white/pink...

Anyone ever heard of someone doing this? If so, any advice?

Do you have a pic of what this would look like?  The concept is kinda interesting to me but I'd like to see it executed first.

No, unfortunately I won't have the corset put in until June...

Would it be something you'd see on the outside?  Or something hidden on the inside?

There could be other ways to incorporate pink; you could wear pink shoes, carry pink flowers, wear something pink in your hair, wear pink jewelry etc.

Yes, I'd been thinking about doing pink roses with stargazer lilies, and possibly pink shoes...but just really loved the idea of the lacing being pink! But I'm not going to do anything drastic with the dress either, and risk ending up with something that looks atrocious!!

Well I think if you execute it properly it would look really nice.  A girlfriend of mine bought a plain dress at DB and bought two pink sashes - one went around her waist, and then the other one, which was thinner and had beading, she had sewn around the top of the dress (along the neckline, it was straight across strapless).  It looked cute.

That sounds so cute! We actually got plain regency purple dresses from DB and are having my FI's aunt sew sashes for around the waist.

Update on the corset back: I just found some instructions on ehow for using satin or ogranza ribbon/cording as corset lacing, so I'm going to see if I can find some in my color!

If you're just talking about the lacing for a corset back, I've seen it colored and it looks really pretty.  If you're talking about a full-blown corset, I'm less certain.

Instead of dying it, Alfred Angelo offers lace up dress ties to buy seperatly that are like $15. If you dye it, the dye could rub of on the dress after wearing it for a bit, and that wouldn't be good. I've seen pictures of that done before, its pretty.

I know someone who used camo ribbon (redneck wedding) as her corset and it looked really cute bc the groomsmen had camo ties and vests. So it just might work! If i were you I would buy ribbon or cut fabric that resembles the color you're going for and test it like that first before dying the actual lace.

I was totally picturing a pink corset over your wedding dress, pirate wench style, and I wasn't sure how I felt about it.  Now that I realize you just mean the lacing in a corset back, I say go for it!

I bought them when I had the corset back added to my dress, and dyed them. I love taking off the rack clothes and modifying them. I do it all the time. I don't wanna be a cookie cutter bride.

Ive seen it done with Yellow Laces, the  wedding colours were white and yellow- lemon yellow- it looked fantastic.. i have thought about doing that, but im not too sure yet.. i probably wont.. but its a cool i dea..

Wow, Annie! How did you dye them? And the dye didn't come off on the dress? That's what I'm worried about!
