Calling All Brides Using the Color Navy

I am getting married in an outdoor garden ceremony September 18, 2010, which technically falls into summer, but is just one week away from fall... the foliage will still be primarily green at that time.

I'm having trouble picking colors; we've only decided on navy suits for the guys, but I'm having trouble putting together color combos without it feeling more like spring colors. So I'm curious what colors you are all using with navy, or just what colors you think will look good.

    maybe orange or apple green?
  • I'm using navy, dark purple and pewter/silver.
  • I am doing a serene/grey blue with yellow flowers to accent the navy.  But I did always like the idea of green with navy if you can handle all the primary colors

  • I'm using Navy, white, silver & gray if needed.  My flowers are only white roses, both for the decor and the WP.  I'm in Sept with you, shoot it was the 18th once!  Mine ended moved to the 25th so we could get the venue we wanted.

  • I'm using navy, plum and gold. I like the gold because it makes it feel a little more "fall"ish without being IN YOUR FACE fall colors.

But, that being said, don't force yourself into colors you're not in love with just because they "fit the season." More and more brides are choosing to use colors that are "out of season," especially with the wider availability of different types of flowers.

  • I don't think you should be too concerned with the season aspect.  I'm doing navy, light blue, and ivory or yellow.  I also think navy can look awesome with lighter greens and brown.  Try googling navy inspiration boards to see what other people have done!

  • We are using Navy, Ivory and Silver.
  • We are having the BM in After six dresses (their navy i called midnight), and the guys in midnight tuxes. All of the flowers an dlot of the accents are kelly green, like a clover colour.
  • We're doing bridesmaids in navy blue dresses with red/green/white flowers with red shoes!  My bouquet is red/green/yellow/white.  Wow it sounds horrible to type but it looks actually very pretty! To keep it from looking way too America themed at the reception, we're switching off between red and yellow flowers on the tables and keeping the navy blue to ribbon on the cake with white flowers on top.  :)

And to the first girl who posted--I think navy blue with a dark pink/fuschia with silver will look STUNNING!
  • wee tying to match the colors in the groom's choice of klt, so we're doing navy and cobalt, with some deep fuschia only in the flowers

  • We just did ours.  We also used the After Six/Dessy Midnight (essentially Navy).  I originally was going to do Forest Green, but once I decided on the winter wonderland theme it was Navy, Platinum and Ice Blue accents.  I still love the idea of Navy and green though.

  • We are using navy for the bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen tuxes. As for other colors, we are getting married in April so I did pick light blue, light green and ivory along with the navy. But I did order a brighter, kelly green color for envelopes to go with my navy invites and it does go together nicely.
