Trimming heel of a too high heel shoe

Has anyone ever had a pair of heels trimmed? looking for an info you have. I purchased a paid of Charlize shoes by Benjamin Adams but they are sooo high...I will really need something lower unless the heel can be trimmed down half an inch.

Re: Trimming heel of a too high heel shoe

  • I'm not sure this is possible, since the soles of most high heel shoes are shaped to work with the heel height.  You would likely end up with something that leaves you tilted backwards.

However, I'm not a shoe expert.  Check with a local shoe repair place and see what is possible.
  • I did it. Big mistake. Didn't help. Waste of money. The heel was at the wrong angle. Sorry, doesn't work, unless you add a front platform as well.
  • Oh gosh...now I'm nervous. Just curious, did you do this with any particular shoe brand and did the shoe repair person give you details of how it would alter the shoe before chopping the heel? The store I purchased from has an experienced shoe repairman who does this service for them frequently. Maybe I will get the contact information for him & find out for myself.
  • I did it quite a few years ago. It was an independent shoe guy who's English was limited so I didn't discuss it with him before or after. I wish you could see samples of your guy's work.

I've done this, and my mom has too. Ours turned out fine.  Go to a good shoe repair shop and discuss it with them first.  Depending on how much you want taken off, it might work, it might not.  It depends on the shoe, so have them take a look.  Make sure it's cost effective to do it instead of buying a new pair, also.  It might not be.
  • I used to do this all the time.  The most you can expect is about half an inch, and it will bring the toe of the shoe up a little, but it's not really noticble.  You should be able to walk normally.  Just make sure you take it to an experienced shoe repairman.
