Shopping for tuxes

I'm just wondering who out there went or will be shopping for tuxes with the boys or if the guy went alone?

Re: Shopping for tuxes

  • I'll be going with them.

  • I went with just the groom and my MOH/sister. We selected the tuxes and set it up with the tux shop so all the guys have to do is call in the measurements or enter them online. All guys are from OOT.

  • FI took his guys. He was adamant that he wanted to pick them out on his own. While he did have some general ideas of what I like and dislike, I figured in the grand scheme of things if that was the one thing he wanted to have control over, I would let him run with it. He hasn't really cared about much else in the wedding. They didn't remember to take pictures, so I won't actually see them until that day.
  • My husband and I went together, but he had the final say. I just chose the color.  We didn't get the input of any of his guys because they were all from out of town.  We told them where to go to get measured and that's it.

  • I actually went on my own to pick the stuff out. I showed him pictures before I picked them, though, and gave him a chance to change it after. I just needed to get them ordered so that I could get Savvi's discount for the invitations :) (We are out of town and he is extremely busy with school, so it worked for us)

I picked the first option (Yes, I will be going with them) although it's not totally true - my FI and I went together and picked everything out and "registered" with the tux store.  We sent them all a picture afterwards double-checking that they're fine with it, but it was more of a formality than anything (they're pretty normal-looking suits, no neon pink or kilts or anything).

The GMs live all over and it would have been near-to-impossible to get them all together to pick something out, and I know that they don't really care if they have a purple tie or a green tie anyways.

The guys just have to go in and get measured, they don't need to pick anything out when they're there.
  • i went with H and his mom. H has pretty good taste (he has expensive taste when it comes to clothes!) and did a great job.

FI went with two of his GMs - I just asked that they chose a plum color for the accents, they chose the rest on their own.

  • I'm going with FI and one of his groomsmen. FI wants some opinion, but needs direction to get what he wants exactly.

  • J originally didn't want me to go (I picked out my dress without him, why should I be there when he gets his tux was his argument).  Because we had discussed them and knew each other's opinions I was OK if he went without me.  However, as soon as he made plans with one of his GM to go, he immediately turned to me and asked if I was going with them.

  • I will be going with FI, he has never worn a tux and wants me to feel it will match or compliment my dress. His guys however will just be in dress shirts, ties, and dress pants. I told him yesterday his brother and him were sweating so bad (as he always does) that they are both buying their white shirts as no one will take back that rental when they are done haha

FI and I went together...my only input was the color, other than that FI did all the talking, and I'm happy with his choices.
