Searching for the dress

I have just started my hunt for a wedding dress and learned that I have very expensive taste. I just love all over lace! I like Monquie Lhuiller because she has so many lace dresses, but I do not like her prices. I plan on searching for some sample and previously worn gowns, but I was wondering if any of you know of another designer or dresses that have a similar look? Thanks!!

Re: Searching for the dress

  • There are a lot of different styles of all lace dresses.  Strapless?  Cutout back?  What's your style?  In general, lace can be quite expensive, but David's, AA, and other lines carry more affordable options.

Also, check http://www.oncewed.com/ and other preowned wedding sites for a gown looking for a new home :)

Mori Lee has a lot of beautiful, romantic dresses with lots of lace on them.  I'm leaning toward Mori Lee 1612 myself, which is an all over lace dress.

Her website has several different lines to choose from.  She is much more affordable than Lhuillier.  Hope that helps :)

  • Thanks for the suggestions! I like sweetheart necklines. I am getting a little tired of strapless dresses and I like some that have a halter or a lace cap sleeve. I have tried on a strapless which was beautiful, but I want to try a few other necklines instead of immediately heading to the strapless dresses which by far seems like the majority. I like the idea of a classically beautiful dress, one that looks stylish today and 20 years down the road and not like future version of mutton sleeves.
  • Can I suggest Alfred Angelo?  While I didn't choose a dress of his at first (I am hunting again for a dress that will cover my arms for a catholic wedding) he does have some some wonderful styles...and VERY resonable....check it out.
  • I suggest Maggie Sottero, her dresses are very romantic and have a lot of lace. A lot of them are corset so they give you great shape. I bought a Maggie and I spent about 1,000. I suggest the Karena Royale one for you. You can make the top into a sweetheart neckline and you can lose the sash if need be. It was my runner up dress. I got the Anastasia dress.  Good luck with your search!!
  • Oh I just read that you wanted a halter...the Karena (no Royale) is exactly like the Karena Royale one except it's a halter.
