all female wedding party

help! i can't figure out what my all female wedding party should wear, and all of them keep telling me they will just wear whatever i want them too, but i'd like some help!  my fiance has 3 groomswomen and i have 4 bridesmaids. i was thinking maybe my bridesmaids should wear short dresses and the groomswomen should wear long ones, and maybe have them be two different colors, but that's as far as i've gotten. any great and wonderful ideas??? please! also, i kind of like the idea of letting them pick their own dresses, just giving them a length, color, and fabric, but not so sure how this will look if i have 2 different colors and 2 different lengths.
thanks!

  • Why can't they all wear the same thing?  You could ask them to each pick out a knee-length black dress of their choice.  Most will alreaady have something in their closet, and some may want to go out and buy something new anyway.  If you wanted, you could distinguish bridesmaids from groomswomen by the color/type of bouquet they carry, or something like that.

If you want to do diferent colors for each set of women, then I think that's okay, but I wouldn't do different lengths.  Length of dress connotes formality of the occasion, and it would be weird for one group to be wearing more formal dresses than the other.

  • My sister had pretty much an all female bridal party.  They had everyone who stood on the bride's side wear a light purple dress, and everyone on the grooms side wore grey.  We got to pick out our own dresses.  The pictures looked beatiful!
