NWR: Ideas needed for 50th birthday party

Hi, ladies!  My mother's 50th is rapidly approaching and I really need to get on the ball with planning a party for her.  I know that she'd be expecting more than a small shindig at someone's house, so I'm hoping to throw her a party at a venue instead.

I need ideas on venues to begin looking at.  I'm not sure of budget yet (need to consult others helping), so any ideas will do and I'll go from there.  I'd like to steer clear of The Yard (had rehearsal there), Puritan Backroom (had bridal shower there), and The Derryfield (had reception there).  Also, my Mom's not a huge fan of Fratello's food (super picky Italian that she is).

Thanks in advance! :)

How many people are you inviting? There is Unwined in Manchester.

Good question--guest list is up in the air. I need to get you guys more info.  I think right now it's between the Common Man and the Galley Hatch in Hampton.

I hate that I waited until now to do this (her birthday in 12/18).  I was too busy planning my wedding that I didn't have the time.  Now, it's last minute... yikes.

My mother, father, and father's siblings put together my grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary party at the Common Man in Concord, and it was great. The people there were fantastic to work with, the food was phenominal, and while there were a few last-minute issues (drinks being billed to guests rather than the party; they forgot a table for the cake) they were resolved immediately.  (In fact, my mother likes them so much that she keeps bugging me to check it out for my wedding, but it just doesn't have the feel I'm looking for.)

I realize that the different Common Man branches are all a little different, but I they're all owned by the same people so I'd hope they would look for similar qualities in all their event planners.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the input, Dr!  It seems that, after talking with my Mom's boyfriend, that she doesn't like the Common Man.  She's nuts.

I think we're just going to do the Puritan.  The plan, right now, is to serve heavy appetizers rather than dinner.  We'll hire a DJ and get a fun cake.

Now, to pull it all off!
