Annoyed

I'm not wearing a veil. I think they look hideous on me. At first my mom was aghast at the idea, but once she saw the dress with a veil and without she agreed no veil. I am wearing seed pearl comb so it's not like my head will be void of any bling. Friends and family have also asked about my dress and veil. Same reaction when I say no veil. Then yesterday while that live wedding show was playing here on TK, one of the designers kept going on and on about how a veil makes a dress look bridal. Pretty sure the fact that it's a white dress, worn by a girl about to get married makes it bridal. Ugh.

Rant over.

  • No veil.  It was just asking for trouble with an outdoor ceremony.  I wore a pearl and jeweled comb, and felt VERY much like a bride in a white lace dress and white bouquet.  If you don't like veils, then don't wear one.  I doubt anyone will even notice:-)

  • I'm doing a veil because it fits my style and my dress. I don't think it makes you look any more bridal than if you don't have one. If it doesn't work with your dress, people will get that when they see the dress and if not, it's no big deal.

I wore my mom's veil for the ceremony only. It was my something old and matched my dress perfectly. I originally didn't want a veil at all.

Ignore people's comments. Some people wear them, some don't. Do what works for you.
  • I'm wearing a veil, but I agree that it isn't necessary to have one to look like a bride.

I wore no veil - I went with fresh orchids instead.  I think I looked rather lovely.

  • I'm wearing one because I want to. You don't have to wear one if you don't want to!

I'm wearing one because it works for me and it looks amazing with my dress but they're not for everyone and I think that's fine!

  • I'm not wearing one.  I'm small, 4'10, 90 lbs, and everytime I tried a veil on with my dress I felt like it swallowed me up!  I hated the way it looked on me!  They are deffinetely not for everyone.

  • I didn't have a preference really. I did wear one only for the ceremony and a few pictures. The veil was my grandmothers ( she passed away when my mom was 13) and my mom had worn it so I knew it was special for her, otherwise I probably wouldn't have worn one. One of my girlfriends did not wear one and only wore a white flower in her hair and that looked very pretty. It's all up to you and your preference . Good luck :-)

  • This is just my opinion, but I really do agree that the veil truly completes the "bridal" look. Until I put the veil on, I was just a girl in a white dress - once the veil was on my head, I was a bride!

However, it seems like you are truly committed to not wearing a veil, so you should stand by your choice and ignore your mom.

  • I really think it depends on the dress.  I haven't yet decided on mine, but I know I've tried on ones that I've wanted a full, cathedral veil for and others that I don't want to wear any veil for.  So I really feel it's what makes you the most comfortable and happy and goes with the dress.  If you don't want a veil, you'll still be a bride :)
  • I am wearing a veil. While I don't love veils I am wearing a very small one. It will go on the back of my head and is very very small and simple. I think it gives the look of a bride. Just my personal opinion. But do whatever you feel is right for you my dear!!!
