Donation question

We are getting married in a Catholic Church and in addition to the church fee it says there is a donation or offering for the priest and the amount is at the discretion of the couple.  Has anyone else seen this and how much do you think would be a good amount?  I just can't seem to come up with a good number.  TIA!

Re: Donation question

Our priest told us (we are both Catholic) that we should "remember how much we are spending on the wedding" when making our donation. With that said, the same church made my sister and BIL donate $700 (they had the church and choir) because my BIL isn't Catholic.
We haven't decided how much we are donating (we also have the choir), but it will probably be in the range that my sister and BIL donated. It is the church I grew up going to.  HTH!

We were asked to give the church $300.  As far as Father D.  we will be giving him between $150 and $200.  When I talked with the deacon at church, he said that sounded reasonable.  We will be paying for the musicians separately.
