Wedding Ring

Here's the skinny: My engagement ring is stunning and fabulous, but the matching band is just plain expensive, and not really worth the cash. However, I am having a hard time find a ring that matches my criteria, which is:
1) It looks good BY ITSELF. My e-ring is big and blingy, and there are certain situations where I just don't want to risk anything happening to it or it getting in the way, so I would love the flexibility of just wearing the wedding band by itself.
2) It looks good with my ring

My ring is a halo setting with two bands that are diamond studded. So the best wedding rings that match are skinny and also diamond covered. But the skinny little rings make my pudgy baby hands look pudgier and more babylike. But a thicker, plain, silver band (which looks great on its own) does not match the e-ring.

Here's my proposal. Just get a plain ring to wear when needed, and then wear the engagement ring by itself the rest of the time.

Is that reasonable? What do you guys think?

Re: Wedding Ring

  • I also have a halo ring and that's what I'm planning on doing. When I don't wear my e-ring, I'll wear the flat band on my left hand. When I wear the e-ring, I'll wear the wedding band on my right hand.
  • Yes, you can do that. We intentionnally chose a narrower e-ring band with diamonds but will still allow room for a narrow wedding band. I don't want to overshadow the e-ring, but it would be nice to have a ring that can stand on its own, and I will wear them both together, whatever we choose.

My suggestion: try on different styles to see if there is something you can live with that fits together. If not, go with your option. If so, decide if you can live with it on its own. Definitely involve your fiance in the process, to make sure there are no hurt feelings if you decide to go with your proposed method.
