Bridesmaid Dresses

Hello. I'm having trouble with dresses for my bridesmaids. I originally wanted my BM's to wear convertible dresses. But my MOH has some concerns with ordering dresses via I tenet and how well the convertible dress would fit her figure. I personally loved the idea because you can wear them however you want. So right now I need help on any other alternatives and where can I go to get BM dresses? I would still like to have my BM's try on a convertible dress though I'm not ready to rule it out just yet, would like to know where they sell these dresses in stores.

  • If your MOH is concerned about the fit, why don't you call around to places and see if anyone carries a convertible style that she can try on?
It might take some searching but you should have some luck..
Has your MOH given you suggestions on what styles she IS comfortable in? Because the convertible covers most of the basics...

Yes her idea was to order BCBG dresses, I told her no I'm looking for something that's reasonably priced plus my wedding is the Islands. But I'm still on the hunt it's unfortunate there aren't alot bridal salons in the Philadelphia area ,I will check and thanks.

[QUOTE]Target and Victoria's Secret both carry convertible dresses. Those are safe sites to order on and have good return policies. Maybe you can order one and the girls can all try it on different ways to see if they like them. If so, higher quality ones can be purchased. I've seen Two Birds mentioned on here a few times, but they are pricey. http://www.twobirdsbridesmaid.com/ I will say that many people find the convertible dresses hard to wear. I know I do. The material is often flimsy so it can be manipulated in so many ways and it shows body flaws very easily. A lot of the styles are hard to wear with bras as well.

The one I was thinking about was Henkaa it's very similar to Two Birds but less expensive. I do agree from this pics I saw I was a little worried because she is top heavy and finding a dress with a right fit for her maybe a challenge especially if I order it. But I will keep checking thanks

[QUOTE]The convertible dresses tend to be very unforgiving of figure flaws. In order to get all that fabric to drape and stretch into 274 different styles, the dress has to be made of very thin fabric that reveals every bulge and dimple.

Yea that's what I don't want on my day I would like for them to be as comfortable as possible without feeling self conscious about the way they look in a dress. Thanks advice from everyone was helpful and greatly appreciated.

  • My bridesmaids are actually going to be wearing the convertible dresses. I love them and so do the girls. For us the dresses where the perfect option because everyone is a different size and this dress can be worn to flatter them. Yes, it is hard to get the perfect fit at first but once you get the hang of how to wrap the dress it is not that bad. All my maids are getting the matching tube top to wear with the dress so they have the option of wearing a strapless bra for more support if they choose.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Bridesmaid Dresses : yeah, less expensive means cheaper material. If she's busty, she's going to have major issues with the convertible dress. Heck, I'm barely a B cup and I was horribly uncomfortable in it when I had to wear it as a BM. To give you an idea, I hated it so much that it is the one BM dress I didn't donate after the wedding. I turned it into cleaning rags instead.
