Engagement photos

Hi ladies, My FI and I are having our engagement shoot next weekend, can I have a couple suggestions on attire for us both please...the session is at a beautiful park... Thank you

Re: Engagement photos

  • I'm just doing a cute top w/ capris and he's wearing jeans with a shirt.  Ours is also in a park so I want to keep it simple.
  • I had 2 engagement sessions.
Our first one, we wore our wedding colors because I wanted to include a photo of us with the invitation.
Our second shoot, we just wore what we wanted. I wore jean capri's with a lace top & seafoam green sweater - FI wore khaki shorts & a gray shirt.

I brought my own vintage props to use - so keep that in mind if that's something you like.

Have Fun!! It's awkward but that makes the cutest photos!
  • I actually stalked a LOT of people's engagement pictures to get ideas. I would go to google and type in 'white rock lake engagement pics' (Where our pics were taken). So many blog posts popped up and that gave us some great ideas.
  • We both wore jeans and light blue shirts... we actually didn't plan to wear the same color but it was colder than expected and we had to wear long sleeves.  Make sure to wear cute shoes!
  • My FI and I got ours done on Wednesday we both wore button downs...
  • Mine are in two weeks and I feel like this is my obsession right now! I have ordered a pretty bouquet for a prop (and flowers in the house after is always a plus!), so I want to make sure our photos look great with the flowers as well. I am a little more laid back and we are going to be in a park, so I think I am going to wear nice jeans and buy a new shirt at Anthropologie or something. If thats the case, he will probably wear jeans and his favorite button up.

We had ours done last weekend. I had on a coraly/orange top and FI had on a gray button down. (our colors are orange, gray and white)  I also brought along some props (orange cream soda and a gray/white striped straw, an "&" I got off of Etsy with our initials..but I only used the ampersand, and some chalk to write "with this ring" on the steps.
I am DYING to get my pics back!  HTH.

Heres my teaser pic my photographer sent! :)

  • My best suggestion is to figure out the theme of your wedding first. Then that gives you an idea what you want for your save the dates, invites, etc. Then that helps lead to cute ideas for your engagement photos. We didn't have any of that figured out and rushed to do our engagement pictures. Then when we did our save the dates I saw all these cute ideas that would be perfect if we had gone with a different style photos. Luckily I'm a photographer so I set us up in our backyard and took more pictures specifically for our save the dates :)

Looking up other people's pics is always the best way to go because you get a real good feel for what you like and don't like. It also makes it much easier on the photographer because you have some ideas for poses, etc.
  • Our pictures are next week and we will be using them for our save the dates and our guestbook (photo album for people to sign instead of a traditional guestbook).  Our photographer said we could do as many outfits as we would like, but we're sticking to two.

The first is a slightly more formal (but not crazy formal) outfit - khakis/button down for him, cute dress for me.  The second is more casual - he'll be in jeans and a polo and I will either be in jeans and a cute top or a sundress.  Our pictures will be outdoors and on a beach.

My photographer prefers bright colors which is fine with me since half my wardrobe is some shade of pink.  I'm still narrowing down what I'm going to wear but trying not to stress too much.  Easier said than done!!
