Wedding gowns on eBay?!

Does anyone have any experience purchasing gowns on eBay? I'm not sure what to think of this, beautiful gowns for only $200?! Is this real? It seems legit enough, and I know eBay will reimburse your money if something goes wrong with a purchase on their site...just seems too good to be true....any experiences?

Re: Wedding gowns on eBay?!

  • I would recommend clicking the designation on the side of the eBay site that says "US only" and see how it changes your results. Honestly, these $200 gowns, if they are from China, are probably cheap knock offs of the real thing. Likely they will be recreating a gown just from a picture from a real designer in a sweat shop in China with sub-par materials and sub-par labor and you will end up with a gown that doesn't look good and won't meet your expectations. I would recommend trying sites like recycledbride.com and oncewed.com to find gowns from other brides that are sometimes new with tags because they either a) didn't get married or b)bought another gown. They have some lovely gowns on there.
    Best of luck!

  • I found my dress on eBay, and it was a sample sale at 70% off. The dress came in last week and I looked it over. It's perfect. The only issues with it is it has a stream of embellishments unthreadding, but an afternoon and some newly ordered sequins, and it'a a $2 fix and a 1100 gown.

PM me and I'll give you my seller's info.
  •
I bought a bridesmaid dress from eBay last November. It was very cheap, and it came from China seeing from the sender address on the receipt. The design is very simple, and the color is white with black belt,so there was nothing wrong with the dress. Good luck!

  • i bought a "custom made" dress off ebay, and just sent it back. It was a disaster. The clasp was broken and it woudn't zip. It was pretty different from the picture and smelled of smoke. I hope they send my money back, if not i will take it up with ebay. It' also cost me $40 to send it back to china
