We went up to FI's parents house this weekend. We haven't been there in a while and I needed some help from his mom on a few projects. We had a great time and I got everything done I wanted to but as we were leaving his mom pulled me aside. She gave me a beautiful diamond ring as a welcome to the family gift so I would know she doesn't view me as a daughter in law but as a daughter. It was so sweet that I teared up! I'm wearing it today but I should bring it in to get it appraised & put it on our home owners insurance.
